Problem with new air compressor

Do you have a pressure regulator attached? You set your working pressure with the trigger pulled, dial in the pressure you want to spray at.

I assume it is receiverless (no air tank)?

Is the unit switching back on as soon as you start spraying?

The unit is always on, whenever I'm using it to keep the pressure up, and I turn the dial to use 15- 50 psi which  is the reccomended psi for the airbrush, and still in 2sec it drops from 50 to 10psi. Should I take it back?

No pressure regulator or airtank

Sounds like a bad compressor to me. A pressure regulator will control how much pressure you are using, but it won't maintain a higher pressure if the compressor isn't putting it out properly.

I agree if it's not holding a steady pressure and staying set at 30 psi, recommended psi for brush, then it must be faulty.

Should I take it back?

I would say if it can't generate any more than 10psi - without doubt return it.
