ROTO-PAINT SYSTEM -1 WAY TO MAKE IT WORK
Posted by krow113 on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 5:44 PM

I got this system in a sign deal with a hobby shop:

I like well made tools and seeing it was made in Italy with a good name behind it (Amati) I added it to the deal.

I couldnt figger out how to use the tools supplied:

They are nice and feel good in my hand etc. I wanted to make them work after seeing this tool sit around not getting used. I also had this kit in progress , 1/35 Pegaso Che Guevara :

As shown he was well into fab and first colors with a special base. However he was stalled out without a way to finish.

To make a long story short I sat down with the two and came up with a way to get the RP system to work with figures that are pinned in one foot. I used .040" steel rod in Che's foot.

I cut out discs or Sintra plastic 1/8" and 1/2" thick as seen in the pix.

I piled them up and glued them:

These were drilled for the pin and mounted on the RP system:

That took care of Che , but still a little unwieldy . More mods needed ,I drilled a 5/8" hole in the large mounting plate supplied, and a corresponding hole in the cast metal base supplied:

Now the handle and small mounting base supplied can be secured to the heavy cast metal base:

And with buddy mounted:

Guys like me always add a base to the kit supplied base , I dunno some kinda sickness I guess:

This was mounted to the large mount supplied from below with #8 screws and 3/16" fender washers:

And with both stored:

Now 2 items sitting for over a year are in use .The tool is infinitely more useable with "pinned" figs and can accept small custom bases as well ,both for work and safe-keeping.

Che and me are happy!
