Superglue Blues

Several years back I discovered the perfect Super type glue "Locktite brushable" that came in the no tip container. This stuff was the anwser to my modeling prayers. It brushed on thick, filled gaps and small voids, didn't shrink, bonded quickly  "not instantly" alowing some time for ajustment, and stayed soft enough to sand and carve several days after curing.  When applied with the brush I could easily pinpoint the target area and not worry about it running. I use to buy the stuff 5-6 packs at a time. About a year or so ago Locktite discontinued it without explanation. Other brushable Superglues are avalible but, are nowhere near as good. I now use mostly liquid styrene cement or MEK to glue my parts, but still long for my secret weapon. Do any of uou know of any other glue that might act similarly?

There are CA's on the market that meet your requirement. They are known as slow curing. There are but a handful of companies producing CA, they supply the "brand names" as well as the "private label" retailers.

Sprue Brothers just added a line of CA's, check their Nov 7th update on their homepage for direct links to the products.

Check your local hardware store, I know at the True Value store I managed, we had probably 30 different types and brands of CAs.

Loctite dropped the product because like any product they discontinue...it failed to give adequate ROI.

I use the Locktite "gel" CA.  Never tried to brush it on, but it is slow setting and does not run. I apply it with a toothpick for small amounts, or squeeze it directly from the nozzle for long seams.

I like this too..... and I use it as a filler with Kicker too.....     it gives you plenty of time to make adjustments without kicker  as well
