Micro drill bits... check these out
Posted by wing_nut on Saturday, December 31, 2011 2:53 PM

Ordered some micro drill bits from Drills Bits Unlimited.  They come in am amazing protective case.  I got 4 of the S1 sets... $24 (5.99ea. w/free shipping) for 32 bits.  In the last pic the blue is #80 and the red is #97.  WOW small.  I think it broke when I looked at it Wink

I'm looking at these, but I have Emailed them to find out how much shipping would be to the UK.

I have received a reply, and have now ordered some, I will have to wait a little while for delivery. I looked at some equivelants in the UK and one company wanted £117 ($181) for a set of 10 !!!!!!!!!!.

Now that is a nice set of bits. I should have browsed the tools section a bit more before I bought my HF set. But then again impulse buys are the best.

If those are solid carbide they will break quit easy.

I’m just looking forward to using these drills and not having to constantly change the collets every time I use a different size drill (normally not being able to find the smallest size collet!).

Cool, I'll check them out when my supply runs low.  I've broken more #80's than I can remember, they snap VERY easily. I would advise wearing safety glasses, especially if you plan to chuck one into a rotary tool.

I have micro bits from Harbor freight and the break very easily. $5.99 for a set is a reasonable price for those who want a set of them. I rarely use mine and when I do, I'm extremely careful with them. My set has other types of bits as well. So I think that I will continue with the Harbor freight sets.

I ordered 3 sets, and received them quickly. And of course I just had to try the #96 - and promptly broke it. Oh well, I have 5 more...

One question, how do you all use these? The body is way to big to put into either of my pin vices. I broke the one using just my hands - it works, but my fingers kept getting in the way!

I have been using them in my Dremel.  Holding it very steady.  Doing it with your fingers will have too much movement.  The shank is 1/8" and should fit in a pin vise.  All of mine have a 1/8" collet.  Did you unscrew the handle?  There should be 2 collets.
