Micro Clamps at Menards
Posted by Don Stauffer on Thursday, January 19, 2012 9:37 AM

For those of you in the upper midwest who have a Menards store nearby, they have a sale on Irwin Micro Clamps(bar clamps)  this week (I know, not much time left).

Micro clamps refer not to the basic size, but the adjustment.  They use a trigger mechanism for adjustment, and the trigger causes a very minute- only a few mils- closure, so you can really adjust the pressure very carefully.  I had bought a similar bunch from Harbor Freight a few months ago, but these seem be considerably better quality.  These have a 4.5 inch max opening.

They are ordinarily eight bucks for a set of two clamps but the sale offers a five buck rebate on the set (be aware the rebate is only redeemable at Menards, but if you shop regularly at Menards this is not a problem).

Thanks for the tip Don...I am always on the lookout for good tool deals. If I need them or not. I picked up the HF ones at a grand opening for $2.00 a piece.  They work much better than the old spring types I have.

These Irwin ones are very similar, but even better.  They have a bigger release lever, easier to use, and the clamp pads stay on better than the HF ones.
