The internet is a wonderful place to get stuff, including paints.

15>20psi is a sensible place to start, but there are so many variables (type & model of airbrush, paint, thinner, personal style...) thats it virtually impossible to say that X or Y psi is the idea pressure.....

If the paint isn't atomizing properly, your pressure could be too low.

If you find your paint is going on rough or grainy, it could be an indication of excessive pressure drying the paint too much before it hits the subject.

That being said over or under thinning can also cause these problems - best bet is to play & practice (preferably on scrap) until you get results that you're satisfied with.

I just realized that this post should have gone in the Painting/airbrushing section of the forums. I would apreciate any replies anyway.

Hi Guys

I recently purchased a Husky shop compressor for airbrushing, I paid $30 for it at our local pawn shop. Since I have had issues with pressure regulation with my old Pashe compressor I asked my father for help. His solution was to add an Oxy-Asetelene regulator to a quick disconect fitting and then rig it to my airbrush hose. Now I can regulate my air pressure from 2lbs- 25lbs with only the turn of a knob. Aside from the tremendous racket the cheap compressor makes under my modeling bench my only issue is what are the best pressures to apply different kinds of paints. I know that Alclad sprays best at between 8-10lbs but beond that I'm forced to simply experiment. I am willing to use Acrylics, lacours, and enamels as the avalibility permits. My question is what you're recomendations as to the best pressures to use with the diffrent paints. I have Velaigo "I know that I spelled that wrong", Tamiya, Testors MM, Floquil enamels, Polyscale Acryl, and Games Workshop acrylics. I'm kinda forced to use what I can find as I live in the styx and don't have a lot of choice.
