Because so many of the substances we work with, from cement, to CA glue and certainly paint, especially enamel paint, I would be very hesitant to work in a room with no ventilation. I have a window directly above my work bench and when I'm using any noxious chemicals I open the window to give myself some fresh air and allow the fumes to escape. I also keep fan running to draw air in or out of the window, depending largely on the weather. If an windowless room is all you have available, I'd put a fairly strong fan in the doorway to draw the fumes out of the room, or conversely, to draw fresh air in. And, in that sort of environment, if you are going to do any painting, even acrylic, I'd invest in a good respirator. Might just save your lungs.
