Posted by Misty on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 1:47 PM

hi

Has anyone any advice for using this product

Vallejo 100% acrylic resin - acrylic gloss varnish permenant 28.517

I have tried it on some scrap but couldnt get it to spray properly, just gummed up the gun, and what i did spray wasn't very impressive.

Thanks

You're probably better off re-posting under Paints and Airbrushes.  I was just looking at their gloss varnish under Model Air.  Their gloss varnish has a product serial number of 70.510:

Hope this helps a bit.

What did you thin it with? I haven't used the varnishes, but typically, Vallejo doesn't like to play nice with alcohol.

hi

I tried a little water but had no idea of the ratio i should use or if water was the correct thinner to use. it just came out like white glue. I havent been able to find any info on this particular product as it doesnt seem to be the normal clear coat. This stuff comes in 500ml bottles not little ones and looks like milk. i think ill have to dump it and try something else.

I've tried their gloss varnish twice. Once on a Panzer III, where it went down wonderfully, and once on a P-47, where it beaded so bad it nearly ruined it.

Since then I've stayed away from it. Had much better luck with Future cut with Windex, or Tamiya Clear cut with lacquer thinner, or Alclad Klear Kote Gloss.

In concept I love Vallejo. They have an amazing line of paints and I think they hand brush well.

I am not wild about airbrushing them. I thin mine with windex. I am apparently the only person who has had luck using them with alcohol (they will gum up, but keep stirring and things get better)

I dearly love Gunze for airbrushing, though I hate the stink.

For clearcoats, I just use the Testors stuff in the rattle can.

Excuse me.. Is that an Uzi?
