Alternative to Super Glue for Painted Parts?

Even super glue (CA) does not work well on painted parts.  No matter what type of adhesive you use, you need to scrape off paint on any mating surfaces.  Some times for very small parts I use a very small drill in a pinvise to dimple the surfaces just enough to get through the paint.  That helps a lot to get a good bond.

Other options include white glue, "Gator Glue" (a derivative of white glue), and epoxy. All are slower setting/drying, so while they allow for adjustent of parts, this cuts both ways as the part can shift during the drying process and end up positioned in error.

This is a good idea!

Another alternative for you might be Gorilla Glue Super Glue. It comes in a bottle with a specially designed top to seal the bottle air tight to prevent drying. I can attest that it works as I have had the same bottle of Gorilla Glue for over 7 yrs. and it has not dried at all.

Usually about five minutes after you put away the work for the night and go to bed.

Gator Glue may take a long time to dry, but it's biggest advantage is that it doesn't eat through plastic or paint the way super glue does, making it ideal for attaching all those little details to aircraft, cars, tanks, and such without messing up the paint job.  It also can be used to attach photo-etched metal parts.
