I had to have some stitches removed a couple of years ago. The nurse used a really neat, sharp little pair of scissors to cut the stitches. When I remarked how neat they were, she said they were disposable- they had to throw them out after using them once. She cleaned them up and gave them to me.
I know a thread a few years ago on those "suture scissors" someone did a search for them and they were reasonable. I have used mine for three or four years and they are standing up well. They have very short curved blades, VERY good for cutting threads when rigging ships or WW1 aircraft.
