Just wondering if anyone has any experience with or comparisons with Tamiya putty versus Squadron putty. I've only used the Squadron stuff thus far and have been relatively happy with the results but want to know how Tamiya stacks up against it. I realize it's pretty subjective to a degree but any insight would be most helpful. For instance how fast it cures, how easy to sand and so forth. The manner in which I would be using it is the normal stuff such as filling seams etc. Thanks for the input.

I've used them both. The Tamiya seemed watery to me at first (I use the white putty) but it works really well. It has plenty of working time. Squadron's seemed to want to dry up too fast, and I felt that I had less time to lay it out. I appreciate that both have a white color formula, so painting over it is easier, but I prefer using super glue, as it sets up quickly and is better at taking scribing.
Thanks for the input. Your comment about quick drying with Squadron is my major problem with it too. Other than that it works well for me. Sounds like there's a little more wiggle room with Tamiya as far as time. BTW, your forum name suggests you're a Vols fan in the wrong state perhaps?
i use 3m red bondo body filler from auto sypply store and have been for years. bigger tube doesn't dry out sands and paints well.

Thin the Squadron putty to a soupy consistency with lacquer thinner or liquid cement and brush it on in thin layers.

Acetone (100%) has worked well for me so far.
A neat tip I learned here is after the putty has set a bit, but not totally, a bit of acetone on a cotton swab can be used like a paint brush to smooth out the putty. Not too much though, don't want the cotton swab drenched and dripping or it makes a mess.
