Just picked this up Monday, and used it today for the first time.  I think I am going to like having this!

MGH whats the name of the tool, what section of the store and how much. It looks like a rotating vise? I like the wide base.

Jibber: I got it at Hobby Lobby.  The one I go to had just moved things around.  Originally it was with hobby tools, knives, blades, and diorama supplies, which was an aisle over from models.  They had moved it, and it was in the same aisle as the models.  It was on the bottom shelf, so you had to look carefully to find it.  It was $30, but you can always find a 40% off coupon.  Sorry about the poor picture.

Chrisk-k: You can use it to hold parts, sub-assemblies, or a kit while you are working on them.  I used it for the first time as I was masking around the wheel bays on a kit.

I don't think I will bolt it down, at least not for now, but it was heavy enough that it did not budge as I was working on the kit.

I see.  I use a helping hand for soldering to hold small parts.  This vise seems very useful for holding large parts.  Time to use a 40% off coupon.  I'd probably add some lead weights to make it more secure.

Many attachments are available for this item. One of them is an extended base.

Got one from Amazon right before Christmas for $18 delivered. They place it on sell pretty often.

I use mine mainly for solder work. It holds LED's better and more secure than the helping hands with alligator clips.

I must confess that I like modeling tools as much as modeling itself.

Thanks for the heads up-I picked one up at Hobby Lobby and along with it a routed circular wooden display stand for $2.00. Used stain+PolyShade to finish it, added rubber feet & I have a very stable base.

Gotta confess I'm on board with chrisk-k, I'm much more a tool junkie than a stash junkie

Yup, few things as nice as holding a good tool.
