Well, I am trying a kit- forget what they call my version. It was 300 bucks.  Construction went reasonably well aided by a forum, but now I am trying to interface it to computer and get it calibrated.  That is harder than building it.

And, I have been trying to learn 3D software. It is sure a lot harder than 2D, which I feel fairly adept with.  One problem is that you need a pretty decent 3D CAD package, and the cheaper ones don't really do 3D CAD all that well unless your parts are mere extrusions or tapered extrusions.

Hello!

I'm getting the impression the kits are not worth to bother with - they still have a long way to go. They need a lot of work with working the bugs out and even then have many limitations. So maybe it would be better to focus on learning to draw 3D and then just buy quality printing service - that might be a much better use of one's time. If you compare a kit with 300$ with a professional printer for 300.000$ - this price difference has to come from somewhere.

Good luck with your projects and have a nice day
