Hello Mrchntmarine!

OK, I've got it figured out. I found your folder, let's use it as an example:

How to post pictures - step 8 by Pawel

You click on the picture, you land on that picture's page:

How to post pictures - step 9 by Pawel

Right click the picture itself - a context menu appears:

How to post pictures - step 10 by Pawel

OK, now I'm using Firefox, and it's the Polish version. But the context menu has three options on top, and these are: 1. View Image 2. Copy Image 3. Copy Image Location - and it's the third one we want. Other browsers also should have a similar sounding option. If they don't - try to look for "View Image" - and after clicking that just copy the URL from the browser's Address bar - like this:

How to post pictures - step 4 by Pawel

But of course it's easier and more handy to just take the option "Copy Image URL" or "Copy Image Location". Then the address/URL is in the Clipboard and you can paste it (Shift+Insert or Ctrl + V) in the Box:

How to post pictures - step 5 by Pawel

That should do it for you. Good luck!

Paweł

Hello T.B.!

Please keep trying - it's been years since I've been longing to see the photos of your builds on these forums! If I can help you in any way to post 'em, please don't hesitate to write!

It might be worth noting, that you only need a password for photobucket to add photos to your account - if they are already uploaded, you only need a link (URL) to a photo, and for that you don't need a password - infact you can post here on the forums any photo that you can see on the 'Net.

Good luck and have a nice day

Hello Wiggus!

I hope I could help you some. As for the approval of posts - that pesky procedure only applies to new members and it has been introduced after the latest forum software update - about 1,5 years ago. After some time it is lifted for the new users (they are not new anymore by then :-) - and the posts show immediately then. Looking forward to see your work here - good luck and have a nice day

Never mind. I figured it out. BB Code works. Does it always take three days to get posts approved?

Hi all, brand new to this forum. I know that posting photos should be really simple, but I always seem to have problems, either here or elsewhere. I want to start a thread about my first build after returning to the hobby after 20 years, but it would be rather useless without photos. I've started drafting my first post, and I've tried both Google's Photos and Yahoo's Flickr as photo hosts. In both cases when I enter the URL into the photo link box and click OK, just a ? shows up in the post window. There is no "Preview" button to review the post before posting, but I'm fairly sure the photo link is not going to work. Anyone else have success with either Google or Flickr? What hosting site do you use?

I used to be able to just "copy" the pic, then "paste" it in. Then I got a newer computer...for whatever reason it won't "copy" the pic, so I have to "copy" the link and do as described above.

In addition to this...if you use photobucket. The cell phone app is pretty good...lets you upload to P/B directly from your phone/cam. Way easier than plugging in an SD card, upload to PC...upload to P/B...then move pics to their proper albums. I have an updated P/B app on my newer phone, it'll upload directly to whatever album you "check".

Does you have the 10/31 update, don't do it,that all went away, the App is garbage now.

At least I couldn't figure it out

I learned a long time ago...if things are working just fine...do not fix them! I don't do updates at all. I got the phone in early spring, last year. So, whatever the app was then, is what I still have. On my older phone, I could upload direct also, but it would only go to "Your bucket", then I'd have to use my PC to "move" the pics to their albums.

I don't like updates either, but my phone does them automatically, and yes I totally loved the old App,it was so easy. But it's pretty worthless now.

Thank you, Pawel! This would be an excellent post for the mods to "pin" to the boards to answers one of the biggest FAQs in this forum. Nice job!

How to post pictures - Step By Step
Posted by Pawel on Sunday, November 27, 2016 3:03 PM

Hello!

Many people ask how to post pictures on the forums. Like tankerbuilder... Well I thought I'll take some time to show you.

Let's start with posting a new topic or just replying in an existing topic. A page opens that should have a portion that looks like that:

How to post pictures - step 1 by Pawel

Click on the icon pointed by the red arrow. A pop up opens, that should look like this:

How to post pictures - step 2 by Pawel

Now you should put an address of the picture that's already on the Internet in the first field, pointed to by the red arrow. That's right, the picture should already be on the Internet before you can post it on these forums, you can't upload it directly from your computer, phone or what do you prefer to use. The most popular way to deal with it is to use some photo hosting service, like photobucket. Other sites that can put your photo on the Internet are listed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_image-sharing_websites

Once you have the photo uploaded, you need to determine it's adress or URL. On photobucket you find in the box pointed by the red arrow:

How to post pictures - step 3 by Pawel

You can also get an adress/URL of almost any picture on the net by looking at your browser's address bar:

How to post pictures - step 4 by Pawel

Copy the address/URL and put it in the box like shown below. You might add a comment, but it's optional. You might add the dimensions to tell the forums how big you want the picture to appear, but I recommend leaving them blank, in this case the forums will fit the pictures to the available width and kep all the pics you post this way uniformly wide:

How to post pictures - step 5 by Pawel

Now click OK and the picture will appear in the reply window. If it's big, you will only see the corner of it:

How to post pictures - step 6 by Pawel

After you hit the "Post" button, the picture will rescale, unless you set the dimensions to some value that doesn't fit on the screen (I haven't seen it NOT rescale though):

How to post pictures - step 7 by Pawel

And that would do it actually... I know - you probably have a lot of questions - please put them in the comments below. I hope this SBS helps you, thanks for reading and have a nice day
