I cut it nearer the eye end (away from point).  Say three/quarters of way down from point end of eye to opposite end.

Cut Needle Glue Applicator

I'm getting ready to cut a few sewing needles and place them into wood dowels for CA and kicker. Should I cut the eye close to the shank, mid point or near the end of the eye? I know in the future experience is going to determine what size needle and where I cut them, but where is a good place to start with no experience? Thanks!

Cheers,

Bob
