I've been in the contracting business for over 30 yrs and my father before me and his father before him and so on.... I've been a motor head even longer than that and modeling even longer than that and Home Depot has a whole aisle devoted to me.
And yes, I have a lot of tools. Want some?

RustyFord - you forgot the safety wire (aka baleing wire)

BTW - town had its yearly celebration which includes a large flea market and guess what ? I bought more tools (sorry but if some one is selling #61 to # 80 drill bits for $5 a set, I have to buy several sets)

I have 2 tons at least. One post has been in the tool business for 40 yrs. I`ve been doing it for over 50. Hand tools and powered I have. I have duplicates and triplicates. I know i have at least 25 Exacto knives. They are spread around 3 places. Garage for large RC models, basement for smaller RC models and spare bedroom for RC electric and plastic models. Most of the time I can find whatever tool I want to use. Since a Black Labrador and I are the only residents of the house, it`s easy to do.He has never complained about anything I have brought home.

40 years of collecting tools more than fills my 16'X24' workshop. A few of my hand tools were hand-me-downs from my grandfather so my be considered antiques.

I built a "wall of cabinets", 12' length by 24" deep by 6-1/2' tall each of the 4, 3' sections have 2 doors with rollout trays and still don't have enough room for all my hand tools and supplies. The most commonly used woodshop tools are hanging on a shadow board. Mechanic tools are in roll-aways parked against a wall. Drill press, grinder, band saw, router, table saw, table-top paint booth, air compressor and workbench take up the floor space. I have a 8' steam box (used to soften wood for bending) setting outside against one wall. For my small model building tools I have a 6-drawer wooden tool box so the tools can go where ever I need. I sometimes sit at the kitchen table while modeling so I can watch TV at the same time. Sometimes I'm at my RR layout and sometimes in the workshop on the workbench.

Tools - yea I have a couple... TONS!!

You can NEVER have enough tools. Like all the others, I have tools, tools and more tools. I have duplicates for my mechanic's and woodshop tools (my wife once asked "just how many screwdrivers do you need???"). Evil [}:)] I have numerous hobby knives, saws, etc. My dentist gave me over 200!!!! discarded tools. [:0] I kept them all and modified a number of them for modelling. Airbruishes: hmmmm, last time I checked is was two compressors and four...........no, five airbrushes on the bench. Jeez, I'm getting tired. Too many tools to count.........................gasp................................energy reserves getting low from counting. Dead [xx(]Dead [xx(]Dead [xx(].....................................need chocolate...................................need beer....................................need pizza................................kitchen, here I come! I'll be back for a recount later. Wink [;)]

Nope, casn never have enough tools. I have carpentry tools, modelling tools and a few mechanic's tools (tho I don't own a car). Invaribly during the life of a project wether it be 1:1 or 1:48, I'll be in need of a specific tool and will have to go out a buy one or invent a new use for the ones at hand.
3d modelling is an option a true mental excercise in frusrtation

I'm with ya all the way!!! I just bought my second Snap-On Box today, just to hold all of the tools at work....and I am always picking up tools....sometimes people give me total junk, and I still have a hard time getting rid of it, even if I have a great replacement.

I once thought I might have too many tools. When my grandfather passed away 4 years ago my father an I cleaned out his garage. Oh my god you want to talk about a man with too many tools. We left at the end of the day with:
1 - roll-a-away tool chest with 20 drawers (full of tools)
6 - small carpenters type tool boxes (full of tools)
3 - 3 drawer mechanics tool boxes (full of tools)
7 - tackle boxes (full of tools)
1 - large ice chest (full as well)
1 - 4 drawer file cabinet (you guessed it, full again)
Needless to say some of grandads tools have found their way into my modeling tool box as well as my garage box. The man had enough gauges and measuring tools to choke a whale!

Someone, sometime, told me that books are a man's best friends; I can tell you I love books, but I think that the main difference between man and animal is the invention and use of tools, I try to be more human, in this respect at least. I believe that tools are what help me to make my imagination become real, therefore to make myself and my world better. Ergo, you can't own too much tools. Inventing the wheel, even it has already be done, can generate a lot of happiness.

I have too many too. Mostly thing-a-ma-jigs, doo-dads, and doo-hickeys. I rarely (if every) use them all. I've actually made a seperate 'box' that I put things in that I don't use very often. I'm going to take them to my next club meeting and give away whatever never gets used (my junk could be someone else's treasure...)

My tool selection is fairly limited. Not counting airbrush/compressor, and brushes, I have 4 hobby knives, a couple of files, one pair of side cutters, two needle nose pliers, and two adjustable pliers. One saw, and varous dental tools and tweezers that I use for whatever :)

Never weighed them, so can't say I have a ton, but I do have a lot of em. Usually spread all over my workbench in such a way that I have to search for the one I need. Really need to get more organised, but tidy makes me nervous.
