Sci-fi modelers have adopted magnet wire as a space-saving measure when installing lighting in their starships. I picked up a few rolls for just that purpose which measure out to 42 AWG. Check e-Bay out for this stuff. There are plenty of suppliers who offer the stuff in a wide range of thicknesses, core metals, and coatings in nearly every color of the rainbow. I can definitely see using this stuff for modeling engine wiring, cockpit switches, and rigging, but I'm still hesitant to use it to power up circuit boards...
If you have an old transformer laying around, you can peel open the coils and unwind hundreds of yards of nice magnet wire. I did this 40 years ago and still have more wire than I'll ever use!
Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...
GMorrison Just from memory, it has something to do with motor windings, or magnet coils I think. I have a roll of winding wire thats just clear coated copper, but it's great stuff because it's very thin.

I just got a flyer from a place called All Electronics. It has magnet wire (varnished bare copper) down to 32 gauge. It is getting quite hard to find fine magnet wire, with the demise of home brew and kit-built electronics as a hobby.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
It may be the wire used to frame a figure when on sculpts, gives form for sculptor to apply clay to. I think.
we're modelers it's what we do
Now ;
There is Monofilament ( fishing line ) .There's Floral Wire . We all know where to get that ! Then there's brass wire , electrical wire , and E.Z.Line .Here's the question .What in the H$#%% is Ceramic Wire ? I saw it mentioned in an Emily seaplane build .
This sounds like some interesting stuff . Where should it be available and what about cost ? T.B.
