So follow-on question from my previous post. It appears most of the liquid plastic weld glues are no longer available so comparing them is irrelevant at this point. Pro-weld, Tenax, all appear gone. I thought they were all still available.

What do you guys use and why? The only one I see available is Tamiya and Plastruct Plastic Weld. Never used either one.

You're going to a lot of different opinions. Choose what you want, not what everybody's preferences.

Tamiya Extra Thin.  Once I got this stuff I finally understood what I had been missing.  Works great, especially along very long seams, because you can do a little at a time as you work your way across it.  I do still use the Model Masters liquid cement (in the black bottle with the metal long applicator) in certain situations, for example when I need a bit more working time.

I use Plastruct's liquid cements.  I'm currently using a bottle of their Weldene glue; before that, I used their Bondene.  I haven't noticed a difference in results between them.

I'm also using Testor's liquid styrene cement, that comes in the little black bottle with an applicator tip.  It works pretty well, too.

I haven't tried the Tamiya liquid cements, so I can't speak to them.

I like to use liquid glue to make seams disappear, as hypertex describes in his previous post.  The liquid glue melts the plastic, and I apply pressure and squeeze out a bead of melted plastic along the seam.  When the glue cures, I can scrape away that bead and sand the seam smooth.  I use this method where possible, over using putty.  I like the idea that it's all the same material, all styrene, so it will all react the same way in subsquent steps.

You can read about an old technique of taking bits of sprue and dropping them in a jar of liquid styrene cement to dissole, creating a sort of homemade filler.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.

I like Tamiya extra Thin cement. It's solvent only. I touch it to the joint and let capillary action take over. Then squeeze for about 10 or so seconds. I sometimes use Testors liquid cement, it seems to be a bit weaker and dries slower, but it still works.

I use the liquid cement on seams that need to disappear. For joints where the seam won't be visible (like attaching a pilot seat) I use testors cement in a black bottle with a blue card. It has some filler in it, but it can create a very strong bond.

I use Tamiya liquid glue and it works good enough for me. I do have Tenax but haven’t used it yet for difficult / stubborn fits.

I had tried solvent weld glues several times with so-so results, so gave up on them.  But my friends talked me into the Tamiya stuff.  I did and its great.  It is a combo of solvent and some styrene filler, but not enough to keep it from working well- it is not like old tube plastic cements.  I love it.
