You might search for "suction cup table vices". I ran into a site once that had dozens of various sizes and styles.

A number Army Viet Nam scans from hundreds yet to be done:

I made a recess in the front beam of my bench that allows me to stick a piece of 1 x 2 there, to which I clamp one of those small vices that have a j-clamp on the bottom.  However, those cheap little vises are so bad I hardly ever use the one I have.  Instead I use a nice little machinist vise.  It lays flat on the table and I do have to hold it, but I still prefer that to those cheap junky ones.  I am thinking of using double sided tape when I need to use the vise.  That stuff has been improved a lot in recent years.

Not sure if this fits your needs, but I have one and use it often.  I like the swivel head and the pins that can be repositioned.

EaagleCash867;

       I have one of those. It is now in it's tenth year. I use mineral oil to keep the suction Cup Fresh. The thing has never let me down. I have a 1'x3'piece of Tempered glass on my work area. ( That's so I can when working, Put the instructions under the glass and read them). I recommend these vises. Oh the Glass? Found an old tower type stereo with the glass door. Salvaged the door because I knew they made these out of tempered glass.

       I apologise, I forgot to mention that they will stick to a Corian sink Cut-out from a kitchen counter too! And a used stainless steel topped Lab Table.

That's a great idea with putting the instructions under the tempered glass, TB!  I'll have to start doing that with the Cutterpillar I just got.  Its tempered glass with little rubber feet at the corners and is etched with the same markings you'd find on a cutting mat.  My Bessey vise has been around for about the same amount of time as yours has.  When I need to stick it in place, the top of my work area is mostly smooth ceramic tile.  Used to have a glass pane out of an 8X10 picture frame for cutting photo etch on...and then I broke it.  That made me realize how dangerous it was to be using untempered glass for that kind of thing.  Nobody was hurt, but it had the potential for ending really badly for me or my animals.  No more doing that!

I use a Proxxon vise. It incliudes a clamp for clamping the vise to the edge of a workbench.

Well, if I have any table vice, it's a weakness for seconds or thirds.  Big Smile
