New plastic glue.
Posted by Don Stauffer on Friday, May 28, 2021 1:19 PM

Locktite awhile ago launched a new plastic glue.  I finally decided to buy a tube and try it.

I used a strip of Evergreen strip 1/4 by 1/16 and cut off an inch length.  I did an overlap joint of 1/4 inch.  I did a test of it after two days.  I was not impressed with the result.

Now, this is a judgement, not a quantitative test.  My next step is to try a comparative test against white glue or window cement.  I will take another inch long piece, and two other pieces and do quarter inch overlap joints on each end of the inch long piece, the Locktite glue on one end and white glue on the other, start pulling and see which end breaks first.  I will also cut a piece of transparent plastic and see if it fogs like CA.  If it does not, but is a stronger bond than white glue, I may still try it for windows on a transport aircraft.
