Thx for the reply pal !! I really appreciate it .. I am planning to make a RPS (Regulated Power Supply) Enough diagrams available online.. any one needs links or ideas let me know..

I am not sure about plugging your transformer to a dimmable circuit. It might damage the transformer. The best way will be rig up a regulator circuit to the secondary of your transformer.

Later some one also suggested using sewing machine pedal controller. Even that is a good idea.

Ajithgn, If the toolis 12V or 24V a tranformer would work, just make sure that the power rateing of the transformer is higher than the power of the tool. If it is 110 or 240a.c you can geta light/fan dimmer and conectect it up to a power point and pug your tool into it. This will allow you to reduce the speed greatly
