I've never heard of Simple Green being used to strip paint....doesn't mean it won't work, just a new one on me.

I know Castrol Super Clean will strip paint and that's what I use.

Simple green works great for stripping paint. Just soak it overnight in full strength and scrub it with a toothbrush. Soak again as necessary. Super Clean works great too. For really stubborn paint use some Easy Off oven cleaner(outside).

Super Clean is the best and works faster than anything I have used.
Easy-off would be second but it needs to be in a sealed container to allow the fumes to do the work. Simple Green will strip acrylics but I don't know about enamels.

A friend of mine stripped eons of paint off of some old door hinges with Simple Green. I'm sure at least some of the paint was enamel, maybe even old lead based paint.
