I use a combination of tamiya tape and 3M blue tape. i use the blue tape for huge areas, and tamiya for edges, like waikong said.

Tamiya tape for the edges 'cause it seems to leave a nicer edge and blue painter tape 'cause its cheaper. Bother because they don't lift paint.

I use almost exclusively Tamiya tape. I've never had a problem with paint bleeding under it or having it pull up paint, and since I'm a believer in "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," I've stuck with it. It costs more than other tape, but in my opinion it's worth it.

However, as Model Museum said, use what works for you.

I use a variety of materials from Tamiya Tape, Aizu Micro tape, Artist masking tape to Para-film and Liquid masking tape depending on what the kit is.

Remember ther is no right or wrong answer/technique in modelling, it all depends on what works for you.
Yes, there are plenty of articles out there but they are not like a bible but rather how the article author finished his kit.

I use 3M green found at auto paint stores. I bought a sleeve of 3/4 " and 2 " and have been using them for the the last 5 years. I probably have enough for 2 more years. The rolls haven't seemed to lose any quality over time.
