Once I got it I compared its construction to that of the Unimat-1 and they look pretty much the same. I already had the wood lathe which I had bought before buying the 8 in 3. The motors are really powerful and it is constructed fairly well. For small parts like we would be building for models I think it going to work out great.

I just got the same thing, and I am not sure why, I recieved mine on the 9th of March after waiting about a 1 1/2 weeks after I ordered it online. I wonder if they just ran out of stock.
I wish I could be more help. It would really be bad if they discontinued it, I'd be hard pressed to find spare parts. Sigh [sigh]

Maybe you could call them to see if they still have any in stock.

Let us know how it works. I've never been a fan of multiple use tools (Jack of all trades, but master of none, ya know) but lately I been considering how I would currently be using the tool. If I were going to use the machine proffesionaly, I would still go with the individual tools (lathe, mill, drill etc,). However, using it for hobbies (modeling, woodworking etc) the strain on the tool would not be as hard or long lasting as using it for a day in, day out job. If I kept that in mind it would probably work out very well.

Just got my Central Machinery 8 in 3 machining center delivered yesterday from Harbor Freight.

Can not wait to try it out, can be turned into any one of these a wood lathe, metal lathe, drilling machine, horizontal mill, disc sander / grinder, hand moto tool, wood lathe with copy attachment. Smile [:)]

The unit is similar to the Unimat Classic but about a $100.00 less expensive.

Can never ever have enough tools (insert Tim Allen sound) Cool [8D]
