who makes a good sprue cutter?

I use the ones from Radio Shack. I generally have to hunt them in the store myself, as the numbskulls employed there have no clue what or where the nippy cutters are in the store!

Man these blades are sharp....... Where's this red stuff coming from????

My wife used to work in a plastic injection molding plant and gave me some of her clippers. They are the best I've ever used. They are perfectly ground flat on the outside and cut flawlessly. They are known in the industry as "gate cutters".

I like mine. They work great and they require little effort.

Hobby Lobby has a decent sprue cutter for about $6 dollars... just don't try to cut wire stock with it Disapprove [V]

to use a phrase from earlier... that's why they make wire cutters...

I have had real good luck using the TESTORS Model Master sprue cutter. I have a couple of them in the tool cabinet. I have also used a sprue cutter that is very much like the MM item ... I picked it up at a Radio Shack. I have often wondered if the cam action sprue cutter that MICRO MARK has for around $33.00 is worth the price ... does anyone have that item ... and how well does it work? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

After hearing all the talk I decicded to trry a pair of Xuron Shears. WOW am I glad I did. They have made things so much eaiser. I don't know about $10 - 12; I found them here for $8 and change.

well the missus went out this morning and got a manicure set and it has a pair of the cutters im looking for. the set cost 10 bucks i think and now i have a sprue cutter!

Cuticle cutters work good, and something else to look at is at your local hardware store. There are many types of smaller wire-cutting pliers that would work great, too.

Cost was around $10 at my local hobby store from what I remember. Use it to cut plastic only. I've ruined one of these trying to cut wire for my antennas with it. Dunce [D)]

That's why we have wire cutters. Tongue [:P]

Xuron makes a very nice sprue cutter, but I bought mine so long ago I don't remember what it cost. I think Testors sells the identical sprue cutter, but at a higher price.

i saw a two in one cutter/wire stripper by hobbico in the local store i go to but i didnt see any other cutters, plenty of saws, saw blades, jeweler saw blades...but no sprue cutters. i'm thinking of going to wally world and getting on of those cuticle cutters, i think thats what it is.

they wanted i think like 11 or 14 bucks for that thing! thats far too much for me for just a cutter.
