Ott Lamps

Hi you all,
The lamp on my workbench just broke up and I can't fix it and looking over the web I found these products. Any recommendation about this brand? have any of you are using one of them?
Considering their price (around $150) I'd like to know if it's worth every penny you pay for it.
Regards
Francisco

I personally use two of the full spectrum lamps from Micro-Mark. I couldn't be happier with them.

an Ott Lamp is the best thing for model building since the invention of the airbrush...... I use a couple and they are worth every penny.. esp for painting and paint matching....

gongalef -

Been using one since I got back into modeling a few years ago. Wouldn't be without it, now. Shop around there are always sales.

Archer out.

I bought 2 Ott-Lites a few years ago. Very good purchase and worth the money.
The "true color" effect is great. I usually use them for miniature painting with 2 Ott-Lites side-by-side with the light coming down at 60deg. angles to make a "halo" of light over the subject.
With regular models I use the Otts occasionally because the lamps crowd my desk. But when I want to see the true color of what I'm painting I whip them out.

Hello,
I had an Ott-Lite Flex Arm lamp, bought on sale at JoAnns.com for $99. Lasted 9 months after which an internal component burned out. It was still under the 1-year warranty, but not only do you have to pay for shipping to them, you also have to include a money order for them to ship it back to you. Nice...
My feeling told me to look for something else. And the feeling was right.

Here's what I got:

And here is their site with independent tests of their and other so-called true color lamps, so that any potential buyer can make up his/her own mind:

Due to demand, I had to wait a month for mine, but boy, once it arrived, there was no looking back. A mini-sun in your modeling room.

Highly recommended.
