Beauty supply tool source

I guess just because it was not here doesn’t mean you all don’t know this already but…

My wife dragged my (kicking and screaming) into a beauty supply place today. But I walked out with a huge smile. Has anyone been to one of these places? Tons of stuff that is great for modeling. All kinds of scrapers, pokers, clippers, cutters and things that look like dental tools. Some of it is expensive though so you have to look for the same thing but in what I guess is considered and off brand. To me that just meant cheaper. Then I found the "wall of sanding sticks". My wife said I had kind of a … glazed over… look on my face. They say they are for nails... called 'em nail files and everything... but they couldn't fool me. These were for airplanes and tanks and ships and... well ... you know. They are just like the FLEX-I-FILE FLEX-PAD. These where not around when I was into the hobby last and I picked up a couple at a local hobby shop and fell in love with them. The ones I got at the beauty supply place come in a large selection of grits from very coarse to high polishing. Many different sizes, flexible, waterproof. They are great. Use a sharp utility knife to trim them to different shape at one end.

And it isn't just the beauty supply shops either - The next time you go to a Wally World or a like store, wonder back to the far corner where they have the Arts & Crafts supplies and look around. They have a lot of items that can be used for modeling, both as tools and as pieces or parts for your models. You'll also find items your LHS carrues (Exatco handles and blades come to mind) and they are usually cheaper than at the LHS.)
