Rotary tool
Posted by mooseman on Thursday, June 23, 2005 7:30 AM
Having wanted a mini rotary tool kit for some time I was delighted to receive one as a birthday gift in March. However, it is now June and I still have to find an answer to the following question: since very little info was given with the kit I find myself still curious about what all the bits are really for?

Brief description is as follows:
there are 10 multi-shaped tool heads made of a hard light green substance, quite rough like some kind of sandstone;
there are 6 tool bits, with the metal ends roughened and again in different shapes (I am most curious about these);
a single cylindical green sandstone-like tool head, smoother and darker than the other 10;
a single cylindrical hard cloth tool, this can't be for buffing, it cuts through plastic too easily (discovered at my cost!);
two heads of metal fibres, one gold and one silver, that appear to me to be too harsh for anything plastic;
and a tool that consists of cloth layers which I assume is possibly for buffing. Spares mainly include 4 different sized pads of compact cotton wool.
Question [?]
I know the purpose of the drill pieces and shaped sandpaper parts, obviously but any help on the use of the others would be much appreciated.

I have been using the parts for various tasks (the roughened metal ones for cutting/shaping plastic perspex discs and the 10 green ones for various sanding tasks) but fear that I may not be using them correctly

In anticipation, thanksSmile [:)]

Mooseman,

That sounds good to me. I've been using my heads with the sandstone-like substance to sand and thin wood on a wooden ship I'm working on.

Regards,
