Liquid Mask

I think it's ok... I used it on my 1st complex aircraft model (B-17). I've found that it's best to mask the part after you've cut it from the sprue. You should get a thick, uniform layer so you can remove it easily. Also, you must be very careful when you cut the mask, because if you stray off course, you'll leave a nice gash in the glass. Good luck finding it!

I did'nt think anyone used that anymore. You might try Micromask if you can find it at a hobby shop these days. I went to using Parafilm M. I think it works better than liquids.

Masking canopies with a liquid masking compound is difficult because it tears and cuts easily. You can find Ambroid liquid mask in Hobby Lobby. I recommend Micro Mask which can be found in hobby shops and online at stores like www.greatmodels.com and www.squadron.com.

Today there is a new way of masking canopies and that is to buy a special die cut mask made for a certain kit. Just apply the masks and paint. Eduard and Cutting Edge Modelworks both produce masks. www.greatmodels.com sells masks from both lines and is a great company.

I've used the Ambroid Liquid Mask and I like it a lot. The key is to use two coats or so to make sure that (1) things are masked completely, (2) it's easy to cut out the frames, and (3) it removes easily.

Another key is to dip your canopy in Future and let it dry before masking it.
