Cleaning a Touch n Flow
Posted by LusiferSam on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 1:04 AM
The last couple of days my Touch n Flow hasn't been working at all. I've tried letting the tip soak in the glue (Tenax R7), but that doesn't seem to help much. I can see crude in the glass part, so I'm thinking its more than just plastic in the tip. Any thought or advice?

I once succeeded heating the metal part ( of couse ) with a gas lighter but only once. It did not work the second time. The problem is that you can't find a wire so thin as to enter the metal tube ( any information welcome). The solution seems to clean the Touch'n Flow at the end of your modelling session. As we can get all syringe needles we want here in France, I found a suitable glass tube so I can plug it into the needle but as for now I can't get the performance of the original TnF which is a wonderful tool.

I had the same problem recently, and soaked it acetone. I left it there for a couple of days and it was fine after that. You might want to clean the glass portion, I've found that working a piece of thread down into the glass tube, wetting it, then removing it works pretty well. It's tedious...but it works.

Just got one of these today at the LHS. Looks interesting and can't wait to try it. That is one fine needle. A single strnad of wire from an old lamp cord or extension cord may get in there.

Last night I rummaged through the stash of stuff and found that 34 gauge steel wire (used for beading) fits the needle opening on the Touch-N-Flow. I was able to run the wire all the way into the glass tube and back out. It improved the flow immediately.

This stuff is available in any craft store, 100yards will cost you $.98.

Thanks, Jeff, this may be just what I need to get my Touch-N-Flow back into action... now it's pretty much just a Dab-N-Scab...

I keep a can of compressed air handy to blow out excess glue when I'm finished with the applicator. But I'll be picking up some wire just in case. Thanks for the info.

Thank you, Jeff
Now I'm wondering if it won't be easier for me to buy other TnFs rather than finding this wire. Where am I going to find this, here ? Where did I put the Yellow Pages , Hmm, let's see...
