Hockey Puck + Beading Tool = ? Read On
Posted by gburdon on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 7:44 PM

Hello All:

I thought I would write a quick little blurb here about the newest addition to my tool drawer. I stole the idea from Tony Greenland's Panzer Modelling Masterclass. The tool I received in today's post I picked up on eBay earlier this month.

They are called BEADING TOOLS or GRAINERS. I received two different sets of 12 for $8.00 U.S. added to that was a .79 CDN Hockey Puck and what do you get?

RIVETS, RIVETS and more Rivets!.

I tested the various diameters and "punched" perfect little domed rivets of every size down to microscopic from wine bottle foil. The hockey puck forces the foil into the dome recess of the tool and holds it slightly after the tool is removed. If you ever needed rivets for a project and wanted a cheap tool to do the job. Look for a jeweller near you and ask if he/she wants to part with some or find out where the nearest Jeweler Supply Store is and pick a set or two up.

I will try and figure a way to post some photos of the finished rivets as they are punched and give you all an idea of the scale these are punched out at.

Hope this helps you all. It also shows you what else a hockey puck is good for. Hockey - The Canadian invention to the rescue for the rivetless.

Cheers;

Gregory
