Radio Shack as a souce
Posted by mfsob on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 8:10 PM
I was in Radio Shack the other night looking for fine gauge wire for a diorama and stumbled across their TOOLS section - buried in the back of the store with the electronic bits, circuit boards, wiring, etc. Nice stuff, and at prices below what my local hobby shop charges, for: pin vices (with 12 small bits), hobby knives (with 8 blades); miniature files; miniature screwdrivers; precision nippers, you get the idea.  I wish I had know that when I started out, in my economic condition I'm stuck with what I bought until it breaks or wears out, and with Radio Shack, there are no shipping charges.

you're right, they're good for tools.  i bought my pin-vice there and i've had my eye on the nibbler and wire clippers.  ironically, if you need a soldering iron, they're NOT so good.

I get all mine at a flea market at a local college for less than half what Radio Shack charges. Wink [;)]
They have hundreds of tweezers, etc too.

Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom. " Charles Spurgeon

Some of Radio Shack's tools are not of the best quality—it pays to shop around. OTOH, at least you can really see what you are buying!

Ross Martinek A little strangeness, now and then, is a good thing… Wink
