On the same side of the stick is the white portion and it is the next grit you need to use. The light gray on the flip side is for final work. It is the whole length as you will need to use it twice as much as the others to remove all the fine scratches they make. A dip in future will clear everything up and hide any minor imperfections that may be left.

what are  the order of the grits on this ? i got the dark gray half size is the coarsest but what is the next grit down the white or the lighter gray?
