Tweezers
Posted by TB6088 on Friday, April 21, 2006 12:04 AM

I'm having trouble finding a really good pair of sharply pointed tweezers with serrated points.  I've purchased a few different kinds through micro-mark, squadron, etc., but none have been of the quality I would like, and I'm wondering who makes high quality tweezers designed for modelers.  I like to do most small-part assembly and masking using tweezers, and those tasks would be a lot easier if I had a more "precision" instrument.  I haven't really investigated genuine surgical instruments yet, and before I do I thought I'd ask if anyone can steer me to a good alternative.  Thanks,

TomB.

Look for a brand called "Tweezerman" often sold in drugstores and the better beauty supply places.

I'm using a few different pairs/types of tweezers found at Wal*Mart - Revlon & LaCross come to mind.

For the finest work (that I do at least) I like this type of tweezer:

Micro Mark sells them  for 5.65.  They also have a nice set of black ones (handy to reduce glare) that have 3 or 4 different patterns, might be handy if you do a lot of that kind of work.

Try medical supply stores, or especially scientific stores.....their a goldmine for cheap medical quality tools. Or if you friendly with your doctor/dentist you could always ask them if they have spare tools they might be willing to part with.
