Need to replace filter regulator soon... any leads... HELP! :-)
Posted by vfxart on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 9:35 PM
I have a Werther Intl compressor (made in Italy) with a SMC filter/regulator on it. The plastic bowl of the moisture trap is leaking and since I spray at relatively low pressures, this is an issue. So I need to find either a bowl replacement or a new complete unit. Haven't had any luck with contacting Werther or SMC. Got a lead from SMC, but having a hell of a time finding a distributor that sells over the counter to a hobbyist... any ideas? Everything's pretty much ground to a halt til I can get spraying again... :-(

The compressor is about 15 yrs old, guessing the filter is original equipment on it, and the filter is also marked EAW111, was told that the E marks it as European (made in Itlay, duh)... but I can't think of any reason why this could be cause for concern. It's a 1/2 inch thread on the bugger.

Have you taken the regulator into the hardware store or, a tool Supply place? This might be an option since those places usually carry regulators, etc. If not, they can probably orfer it for you.

Been to two so far (closest to me) one actually dealt with another manufacturer whose stuff looked fine, but could offer no date as to when an order would make it. The sense I got was that it would or could be close to a month or more...

The other didn't deal with them. I've also tried welding supply and the industrial supply that was recommened by SMC (which, and this is weird to me) could get a replacement, but come to find out they're somehow not set up for small sales (that's what they called my type... being just an individual, not a business account or such)

It's really seeming harder than it should be. Thanks for the thoughts though, will definitely get back to making a couple of calls to places further out.

Where are you located? You could try mail order. The only real difference (IMHO) in the regulators would be the fittings into & out of the regulator.

Did you call Werther?

http://www.werther.com/werther/index.html

You might also call Ernesto at Silent Air as they are made by the same company that makes Werther.

Hope this helps

Maybe I don't understand the problem correctly?
You are trying to find a replacement "bowl" for your filter/water trap?

Why not replace the whole thing?
I just spotted regulators and filter/water traps at Wal*Mart for under $20. each.

If I'm totally off topic, excuse me and ignore my post. I'm on new meds and they aint working too good.  Confused [%-)]
