A Square Punch
Posted by nostrdav on Thursday, August 16, 2007 9:22 PM

Is there a tool out there that can sharply punch in a right angled corner? And relatively small? I have been poking around the tool websites and doing searches on this forum, without much luck.

I am wanting to cut a square window in say, fairly normal thickness sheet styrene. I was trying to find a tool that could punch in the right angled corners and then cut from there. I was figuring that from there, having that capability, one could cut any size square or rectangular window.

There are corner chisels:

They work OK on flat stock, but it takes some care to set them up correctly to cut four square corners.  For light duty work, I've sharpened brass angle and square stock to make my own punches.

Thanks Andrew;  Both are excellent recommendations.  I am going to try and make my own this weekend as you suggest. If I fail there, then I might try the store bought tools. Thanks much!
