Thanks for the tip. Optics, like audio speakers, are no place to skimp.

Of all the thing-a-ma-jigs I have the head magnifier is one that I feel naked with out.  I would suggest paying the bigger bucks for a good one.  Real glass lenses do much better.  I did get a cheap set at harbor freight because they had lights on the side.  It was a waste of 5 bucks.

Next year I want to get one of those head magnifiers, too. If youre going to work on miniatures, it seems appropriate to use such things.

Literally. Santa Claus is supposedly bringing me a replacement for mine, which was broken. In the meantime, from the "Neccessity is a Mother" files...

Take one magnifier and one lamp, add a five gallon bucket and a Helping Hands fixture and, voila!:
