Jig for fitting top wing
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 12:49 AM
Hello all,

I have come back to model making after a 20 year lay off. In that time I have developed an interest in WW1 aircraft and would love to make many of my favorites.
I need plans for a simple jig that will help me with the top wing fitment.
All help is much appreciated.
Cheers!!

You'll have to dig it up but there is a thread in the forums that shows how to use two hair combs to made a jig. Any one remember the thread?Confused [%-)]

Woody,

I had the same thought. I think the thread had a picture in it too.

Bob,

That's pretty impressive. I may do something similar now that I've seen your set up. Thanks for sharing it!

Are you going to hold the top wing under your cross piece with rubber bands, tape, or something similar?

Thanks for the kind words Smile [:)]

When you get round to making one, make sure you give it a good 4 coats of clear varnish to seal and protect.
I use blue tac for attaching the top wing to the jig, but If anyone knows of a better way of doing it then drop me a line.
Cheers.

This is my first complete model in 20 years...Dragon's 1/48 Fokker DVIII in Jasta 6 markings. My next project is Eduard's Pfalz DIIIa.
