reference photos to Livermore 1942 camouflage (Dragon 1:350)

Hello there,

I have bought the 1_350 kit of the Livermore. Does anybody know where to find original photos of the 1942 camouflage pattern? There are photos of other Livermores with the same but, well, it seems like every ship was painted uniquely...

Thanks a lot!

You are correct,  the Measure 12 Mod (Ms-12R) patterns applied to US ships varied widely.   The pattern was often chalked out by the yard camouflage officer with assistance from the ship's first officer.  There was official guidance on the splotch sizes and colors, but little else.

I've checked through my quick access list of online photo sources;  SHIPCAMOUFLAGE.COM, NAVSOURCE.ORG,  DESTROYERHISTORY.ORG, and HISTORY.NAVY.MIL and didn't come up with a good clear photo of the Livermore in Ms-12R).   Photos of her in Ms22 (1943) are on-line.

I'll need to check into the Classic Warships title on the Benson/Gleaves when I get home tonight,  but I wouldn't hold out much hope for a good set of port & starboard views of the Livermore in splotch.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your post.  Next time post to ships and it will likely be located sooner

Sorry to report that my CW Benson/Gleaves book is missing among the mess which is the modeling room.  I had it working on the Dragon Buchanan,  but it is not among the books in the destroyer library sleave.   The CW Buchanan book was there however.   Go figure.

Edit -- Searching around a bit more.  I ran USS Livermore through Google Images.  and came up with several links to reviews with scans of the instructions

`

Here from Modelversium is the painting instructions.  There are probably as good as any and better than most.   You can xerox these painting instructions, scale them to full size for the model,  then use them as painting masks

Thanks a lot.

I am sorry - I haven't been here for a while myself. Well, maybe it makes sense to paint it in 1943 camo. It's just doubtful no hardware on deck may have been changed in the meantime...
