I appreciate everything. Using Mr. Baugher's website I tracked down one aircraft, Ser. # 5478 wrecked at Wheeler Field Jan 27 1942 when hit bump and struck another aircraft and of course the aircraft you mentioned, that wrecked less than two months after the attack on Pearl. It seems all I can get is final status like if the plane crashed,  was sold, or lend leased. It would appear that it is very possible there were E models delivered before or around the attack. Too bad I can't get delivery dates but this is a start, thank you very much. Keep the info coming I'll eat this up all day !!!

I think that you are confusing it with the Philippines squadrons as they received the new aircraft as they were seen to be at the tip of the spear, so to speak.  Many of the new aircraft would not have tail serial numbers as at the time it wasn't AAC/AAF practice as confirmed by photos of P-40E's going to Alaska in Jan. 1942.

I'm trying to find specific information (number stationed, which AFB had them, group ,markings and so on)on P-40Ds and Es stationed at Pearl Harbor in late 1941 early 1942. I know that the majority were still B and C models but I've read that there were some squadrons that had the new D and E models. I've searched the internet but most of the production numbers and info is standard/general info and doesn't shed light on the specifics I need.  I also need as much photographic material as possible.
