251/22 equipped units & campaigns
Posted by rudedog on Monday, November 8, 2010 2:14 PM

I recently purchased dragons 251/22 [ a 251 of particular interest to me ] . The decals as far as unit designations that came w/ it were, the HG Div. ,10th,16th& 20th Inf,Div's[motorized.all my searches showed these vehicles were used in the east at the end of the war.yet,I swear i've seen photo's of 1 or more destroyed Pakwagons in the  Normandy area or Falaise gap. Other than I-net searches & a small library of my own,Does anyone know of them being used in the west after D-Day ? Thanks, rudedog

The /22 only entered service in Dec 44, just in time for the Buldge. Of don't know of specific units that used them,  as i don't have any referance at hand. But by that stage of the war things were hectic and they could have gone to any unit and alot of vehicles didn't carry markings by this stage.

Thanks bish.i don't know what or where i saw the destroyed 22's.It likely was the B.O.T.B.  Since you are obviously up on 251's,when 7 where did the 251/21 drilligs show up. Thanks again, rudedog

Well the 251 is my favorite German vehicle, i currently have 24 1/35th 251 kits. But i am away from home this week and don't have any of my referance material at hand. But off the top of my head the /21 entered service after the /22, so that would be 45. And i know both the Dragon and AFV /21 kits don't give any units and photos of them are hard to come by.

There was an excellent 251 GB 2 years ago and i know others here know alot about this vehicle so hopefully can chip in. And if any of you guys do see this, we had links to an excellent 251 site but i have lost it, so if anyone could post a link that would be very much appreciated.

rudedog, i will check my ref at the weekend and see what i can dig up.

Cancell my last, i found the site.

Afraid there is not much on the two variants your asking about. The best source i have is Panzer tracts, so will have a look at the weekend unless somone else can help.
