I loved Cruel Sea- book and movie.

I found a sale on a set of DVDs for Victory at sea.  I still see the set advertised now and then.  Plus I have a CD with some of the music.

My Father would almost never watch any of the documenteries, movies, or T.V. shows from WWII.  If I happen to be in the living room watching one on the T.V., he would just leave the room.  It was a rare thing if he ever made a small comment about what was on.

I remember one scene on Victory at Sea, where they showed film of a British carrier in hte North Atlantic during a bad stor,  The carrier actually went bow down into a massive wave that swept over the entire flight deck.  Fortunately the deck had been completely cleared, otherwise they would have lost whatever aircraft might have been on the flight deck.

One that is hard to find but worth it is the British 1950's film "the Cruel Sea". It closely follows the book, which I have always considered one of the finest about the war.

Of course the "Victory at Sea" series was superb, with wonderful music written by Richard Rogers.
