The Wolf's Bookshelf #1 - AIRtime Periodicals

AIRtime, the folks who, until recently, brought you Combat Aircraft, have published three quarterlies over the last ten years or so which, if collected from the beginning, would put most folks' aircraft reference libraries to shame. Unfortunately, only one of them is currently in publication.
World Airpower Journal - Exclusive coverage of current military aviation subjects. Out of publication.
Wings of Fame - Anything non-current, mostly WWII, Korean War and Cold-War subjects. Out of publication. ![Disapprove [V]](/FSM/CS/emoticons/icon_smile_disapprove.gif) (This was my personal fave of the three.)
International Airpower Review - A mixture of all the above. Currently in publication.
Although these are periodicals, I don't consider them to be magazines because they ain't no rags! Each ish averages out at about 160 pages. Just one of these pubs contains more info and photos than a year's worth of most any rag. They're also well printed with more color than most reference books and very well reasearched and presented. Now, as magazines/periodicals go, they're expensive. $20 a pop. But they're more like books than magazines and for the amount of information you get in each, $20 is nuthin'. Like I said, over time, these will build into an impressive standalone library.
And... NO ADS. Each article is continuous with no interruption of any kind. I don't mind ads in magazines, really. After all, without them the magazines wouldn't exist. And, in and of themselves, they're mostly appealing and sometimes helpful. But it's rather annoying having to jump a few dozen pages of ads and other articles to get to the end of the piece you're reading. But that's all part of marketing...
Anyhoo, even though two of these titles are no longer published, you can still find 'em here and there, especially at better hobby shops and bookstores as well as at shows. You can also subscribe to the currently published title and find back issues at:
