Just picked up and read an excellent resource for us modern USN folks. It's at Barnes and Noble, Bargain book section, it's called "Seapower" by John D. Gresham, Ian Westwell, huge book, and its only $20.00!
Almost all of the photos are taken by military photographers. All are in color, and most are printer nice and big, since the book is about 2 feet wide by 1 foot tall.
