Where do I find out a specific B-17 squadron/ aircraft markings?

Google is the best place to start. Can you provide us some more information? IE:

Your grandpa's name?
Pilot's name?
Group, squadron?
Where where they based?
Aircraft serial number?
Aircraft name - nose art?

Nis name was Ed kasha. He was the pilot. I don't know what squadron he was in. He was based in England. I don't know anything else, except that he got a purple heart after his plane was hit by flak.

Do you know of anyone in your family that might have any info concerning your Grandfather? Letters sent home during the war, documents, photos... there may be clues in those types of things that we could work with.

I'm sorry, but I have no letters, and all of his war medals were stolen over 20 years ago.
he died nearly six years ago, and never talked about the war. I really wish I knew more, but I don't. Thank you anyway though.

Actually, I take back what I said earlier, I'm petty sure he was part of the mighty 8th squadron. I know nothing else.

There were a number of squadrons based in England during WWII The 8th air force had bomb groups which consisted of different squadrons. You need to get your grandfathers service records. Contact: National Personnel Records Center

Monkey, after you get his service info from the address Hippy-Ed posted, look around for associations of veterans of his squadron or group. Their websites sometimes have some great photos, and you might be able to get other reference materials through them.
