P-47 details from Reading airshow
Posted by wing_nut on Saturday, June 4, 2005 8:18 PM
I was able to get nice and close to the P-47 atthe Reading, PA WWII airshow today. I have added a Jug to my build list.

Tail wheel

left nav light

prop hub

wheel well 1

wheel well 2

elevator connector

aileron hinge-bottom

flap hinge-top

control surface TE...aileron in this case

It was interesting that the flying surface TE is formed from 2 pieces... the top and bottom skin. All control surfaces had the narrow lip formed by the wedge shaped peice between the 2 skins and extending a bit. I have never built a P-47 so I don't know if the line is "scribed' at the TE on the contols or not.

Great stuff!

Were there any P-40s there?

Hey Wing_nut, thanks for the photos!

Last year, the same P-47 (or one very much like it Smile [:)]) was parked with the supercharger vents in the fuselage open. I thought about getting a photo, but I don't think I did. I was hoping to get one this year, but the vents were closed.

Regards,

-Drew
