FS numbers for Modern US Desert Camo Colors?
Posted by toddramm on Friday, August 19, 2005 11:15 AM
I'm working on a diorama depicting elements of the 3rd ID in downtown Baghdad early in the war. I have the vehicles done and my next step in the project is painting the figures. My problem is that I can't find the proper three colors that the army uses for its modern desert camo uniforms. Tamiya's instructions for its ODS M2A2 Bradley say to use XF-57 Buff as the base and then XF-60 (Dark Yellow) and XF-68 (NATO Brown) on top of that for the crew uniforms, but none of these colors seem to match any of the reference photos I have. They're not even close. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what colors to use and the manufacturers that make them? Even better, does anyone know the Federal Standard numbers for the 3 colors that make up the desert camo scheme? Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
