European P-80
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, October 13, 2005 9:47 PM
Anyone have any information , pictures, or can refer me to a book with information on the 4 P-80's sent to Europe in '44. I know 2 went to England and 2 to Italy and the 2 Italian P-80's flew on operations, but what did they look like?
thanks in advance

http://home.att.net/~jbaugher1/p80_3.html has some information (including serial numbers) of the YP-80's that were deployed.

Here is a pic but doesn't give much info.  I thought the planes were a light grey color overall but can't confirm.

Some nice pics here but I can't read it so don't know where they are from.

thanks for the info. it seems the planes were pearl gray overall. I've read that light gull gray is a close match. I've also seen a picture of the 2 Italian aircraft in flight near Mt. Vesuvius. B&W pic so not much to go on, markings were pretty simple, serial on tail and national insignia. Anyone else know any more?
