How did the B-17 become the public’s beloved favorite and the B-24 a respected runner-up?

The world’s first operational stealth aircraft, the F-117, is nearing the end of an amazing career.

Paced by USAF’s 20th Fighter Wing, US and NATO airmen and ground forces and more than 100 aircraft staged a full-scale “invasion” of North Carolina.

More B-17's!!!  Keep 'em coming!

I have a friend who's grandfather is a veteran 8th AAF B-17 waist gunner.  He still has nightmares that he's in the ship, spiraling earthward and pinned against the inner fuselage--unable to pull himself free to bail out.

What a gem of wisdom we have in our surviving veterans.  Take advantage of it while you still can.
