THE STORY OF THE 79th ARMOURED DIVISION - Finally found a copy!
Posted by gburdon on Friday, October 13, 2006 12:01 PM

Hello All;

In this morning's post was an early Christmas present for me. I bought a copy of The Story of the 79th Armoured Division from eBay earlier this month. For those of you unfamiliar with the 79th Armoured Division it was a British Division that provided all the specialised equipment for the Allies from Normandy to Berlin. Everything from Crabs,Weasels,Alligators,Crocodiles,Kangaroos,Badgers,Terrapins were under the control of the 79th Arm'd. Some may recognize the nickname "The Funnies" or "Hobart's Zoo"

If you are interested in building any of the "funnies" you may want to track down a copy of this book. It is packed with photos and information and I think copies of every map of every operation the 79th was involved in.

I am now waiting for my follow up purchase which is a supplemental book written about the 79th and contains line drawings of all the vehicles.

Back to reading.

Cheers;

Gregory
